Mike Leake Makes the Reds

without pitching an inning in the minor leagues.

"There are no words to describe the feelings," Leake said. "Maybe in a couple days."

The 22 year old right handed pitcher from Arizona Sate University outlasted Travis Wood, who had an impressive spring and Aroldis Chapman, who defected from Cuba, to win the job.

Chapman had a lower back spasm that put him a little behind.

Leake will start as early as April 11, when the Reds will first need a fifth starter.
